Shpilkis is breaking out of the Pacific Northwest and heading east this August! We’re bringing our special klezmer-sauce to Philly, Upstate NY, Brooklyn, Western MA, and Boston.
We want to see you there! We want to see your cousins there! We want to see your former roommates, jewish summer camp crushes, pen pals, coworkers, and that one person you went to high school with who turns out is really cool now and lives in Crown Heights.

Pre-concert Workshop: Learn a Klezmer Tune with Shpilkis (even if you don't play an instrument)
Klezmer is the traditional instrumental music of Yiddish-speaking Jews and their descendants, but what exactly is it, and what makes this music uniquely Yiddish? In this workshop, we will take a little bite out of these big questions by taking a deep dive into one klezmer tune. We'll listen to it, discuss it, sing it, play it, and even dance to it a little.
This workshop is for all ages and levels. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. While learning by ear is encouraged, sheet music will be available in all keys and clefs. Klezmer is for all instruments, voices, and dancing bodies, so if you are wondering if you should come, the answer is yes!
*You don't have to attend the workshop to attend the concert, but it's encouraged!
